19 February 1998: US-based glass products and services firm, Apogee Enterprises Inc., appointed Russell Huffer as chief executive officer and president to replace 12-year chief executive Donald Goldfus, who will remain as chairman until his retirement. A former president of Apogee“s Glass Technologies unit, Huffer was also named to Apogee“s board of directors. He will oversee a company that took a US$ 16 million after-tax charge to restructure its international operations, including the shutdown of an office in Asia. In addition to the newly appointed CEO, the company also said that Robert Barbieri has been named chief financial officer, replacing Terry Hall. Barbieri is said to have joined Apogee in January 1997 as corporate controller. US Airways Group Inc. earlier this week named Hall its chief financial officer.
