12 March 1998: G&G Investments Inc. announced that its affiliate, Anchor Glass Container Corporation headquartered in Tampa, Florida, a subsidiary of Canada“s Consumers Packaging Inc., has been awarded a five year contract, having a value in excess of US$ 200,000,000 to supply Anheuser-Busch“s growing need for beer bottles for use on the West Coast in the US. The bottles will be supplied from G & G“s affiliate, Fevisa, located in Mexicalli, Mexico. “There is a large and increasing shortage of glass capacity on the West Coast and it is not possible for us to expand in California. We are delighted to receive this award from Anheuser-Busch and to have the opportunity to build two furnaces to permit us to service Fevisa“s expanding customer base”, said John Ghaznavi, Chairman and CEO of G & G, Consumers and Anchor. The Fevisa Mexicalli plant expansion will be completed in 1998 and delivery of the bottles to Anheuser-Busch is expected to begin during the first quarter of 1999. Anchor, which employs 4000 at 9 plants in the US supplies producers of beer, juice, tea, wine, liquor and soda and mineral waters.
