AGC Glass plans transformation of 120-year-old float plant

AGC Boussois plant

AGC Glass Europe has announced plans to transform its 120-year-old Boussois plant in France, which recently celebrated its 120th anniversary with a special ceremony.

AGC Glass Europe, the largest French producer of flat glass, with two float lines and a total capacity of more than 1,300 tonnes per day, specialises in production of clear glass (Planibel Clearlite) and glass with high light transmission (Planibel Clearvision) for the construction industry and the indoor furnishings market. The plant recently distinguished itself with production of XXL glass sheets having an outsize length of 16 metres (compared with the industry standard of 6 metres) for prestige architectural projects.
Alexandre Coppens, Plant Director, said: “As a float producing plant, the next logical step for us would be to evaluate the possibilities of expanding our activities to new types of products. We would like to be a plant of transformation. This will of course depend on market evolution and the strategy of our group but we are convinced that we have a bright future ahead.”
