Glastec “96, to be held 22-26 October in Dsseldorf, Germany, has a new president, Helmut Fahlbusch, managing board spokesman of Schott Glaswerke and president of the German Glass Industry and Mineral Fibre Industry Federation since 1995. Mr Fahlbusch is replacing Bernhard Felmer, master of the Federal Association of German Glazing Guilds and, in his capacity as president, together with fellow Glastec committee members, will shape the future development of the event as regards both concept and content, and will also make public appearances. By February 1996, approximately 500 companies had registered for a net exhibit area of more than 30,000 square metres. Reports are that Glastec “96 will break the 1994 record of 703 exhibitors in approximately 40,000 square metres. As all previous events, this 14th Glastec event will be complemented by a broad-based ancillary programme (following the footsteps of “Future Bauhaus” in 1994) with the theme “Glass Technology Live”. A series of individual events presented by exhibitors in their own halls at the Trade Fair Centre will demonstrate the multi-facets of glass for uses such as architecture, construction and creative arts.
