German Didier-Werke AG has announced its optimistism regarding the rest of the year after business was mostly unchanged in the group during the first quarter. The blast furnace linings and hot blast stove manufacturer said the weaker economy had affected incoming orders and earnings but declined to give specific numbers. The group said lower costs and cooperation with Veitsch-Radex should help improve business in the second half of the year. A year ago the group reported a group pretax profit of DM 20.7 million while sales stood at DM 1.385 billion.
