The ISO 9002 quality certificate for production processes has been awarded to the glass bottle subsidiary of the Danone group, BSN Vidrio Espana at its plants in Castellar del Valles (Barcelona) and Alcala de Guadaira (Seville), Spain. BSN Emballage, also part of Danone, has made a FFr 75 million investment in a new production line for its glass plant at Gironcourt in the Vosges department in France. The new line was set to become operational as of January and will boost production of 25 cl bottles for the beer market by 30%. The company will also be introducing a new control and packing system. VMC, the packaging unit of Danone, is looking to partially withdraw from the area of glass tableware. This activity currently brings in around 30% of the unit“s total FFr 1 billion turnover figure. A partnership could interest Italian group Bormioli.
