The largest event for the contracting industry in the Arabian Gulf, the Big 5 Show, is to incorporate a dedicated pavilion for glass and metal for the first time. The five-day exhibition, which opens at Dubai World Trade Centre (UAE) on 29 September 1996 is the largest event of its kind serving the building and contracting industry in the region. In 1995, it attracted over 700 companies from over 30 countries. Their displays were assessed by a Gulf-wide audience of more than 17,000 which included large numbers of architects, interior designers and specifiers. It takes place at a time when the six members of the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) are experiencing a construction boom reminiscent of the 1970s. This boom is generating outstanding opportunities for local and international suppliers and no less than 10 governments will be sponsoring national groups at the Big 5 Show “96. The event is becoming increasingly attractive to exhibitors offering glass and metal products, ranging from curtain walling and space frames to mosaic, stained glass and mirrors. There is also a requirement for a range of associated cutting machinery, glazing compounds, fixtures and fittings. By similarly incorporating metal into the Big 5 Show, the organisers ” International Conferences & Exhibitions Ltd. ” recognise the proven demand in this sector for architectural features such as balconies, balustrades, handrails, stairways and walkways. The Glass and Metal pavilion will enable exhibitors in each of these sectors to mount displays in a dedicated area covering over 3,000 sq. m.
