Finnish-based Tamglass Engineering and Swiss-based Cattin Machines have finalised their agreement, which unites the two companies within the Tamglass Group as of February 1996. Both companies are manufacturers of safety glass production lines and, according to Tamglass, their respective strengths complement one another very well. The company also explains that the combined R&D resources as well as distribution networks of the two parties will lead to further improvements in customer service and technology development. According to the agreement, Tamglass Engineering acquires 70% of the shares in Cattin Machines S.A. Both companies continue their industrial operations, sales and service activities under their established names. The agreement has been approved by the relevant authorities in Finland and Switzerland and brings the total annual sales of Tamglass up to approximately US$ 100 million and the total personnel to 350. Cattin“s share of net sales is almost US$ 20 million and the share of personnel is 80. Manufacturing facilities are located in Tampere and Orivesi, Finland and New Jersey, US. Tamglass Engineering has supplied approximately 600 safety glass production systems and lines worldwide, consisting of over 2000 Tamglass-made machines, during its 25 years of operation. Cattin“s manufacturing facilities are located in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland where approximately 200 safety glass machines have been built during the past 20 years. Cattin Machines S.A. has been manufacturing machines for the last 30 years.
