American Combustion Tec (CTI) has utilised new Primefire(R) technology for the installation of oxy-gas equipment in Belgium. CTI explains that the Owens-Corning Fiberglas facility in Vis, Belgium was the site of the first European oxy-gas conversion using the new CTI Primefire(R) 300 technology. The furnace began production during the summer of 1995. According to CTI, the new generation oxygen/natural gas burner, the Primefire(R) 300 provides greater flame luminosity and heat transfer capability than ordinary oxy-gas burners. A previous 1994 Owens-Corning Fiberglas Vis conversion used the Primefire(R) 100 technology. All flow control and safety device equipment, as well as on-site start-up assistance was provided by CTI. Furthermore, CTI provided a PLC-based, furnace control system for the 1995 conversion through the Combustion Tec Europe office. CTI maintains a spare parts inventory and service capability to assist client companies in Europe.
