Founded in 1917 as a manufacturer of mechanical and electro-mechanical equipment for various sectors, Officine Bonacci Livorno (OBL) soon found its industrial iden-tity in the secondary working of glass. With a set-up which the Italian company defines as “flexible and dyna-mic”, OBL attracted leading European clients such as SIV and various Saint-Gobain facilities in Italy, Splintex in Belgium and Chrysler in Spain. In the 1960s, another manufacturing group in the same family appeared. Today, OBL with the star is distinct from this second operation and continues the technological development which began back in 1917 with the design and construction of increasingly standardised, high-quality plants. The new image of OBL with the star is part of a marketing strategy aimed at eliminating any confusion of OBL with other similarly-named companies. According to the company, particular attention is paid to simplicity of operation for both automatic and semi-automatic/manual functioning of equipment so that it can be operated in all conditions. At Glastec “96, the company will be presenting its new dual-purpose Sintesy furnace for both curving/tempering (curving without moulds) and flat tempering. OBL claims its new furnace is the only one of its kind in the world.
