The Czech Republic glass company Glavunion will be taking compressed air and nitrogen from US-based Air Products (AP). Under a 15-year contract, AP will invest Czk 100 million in the purchase of a part of Glavunion“s production equipment and the construction of a new nitrogen production plant. The main components for the new plant will be supplied by Ferox (Decin, Czech Republic), in which AP hold a majority stake. Glavunion will use the gases for the production of flat glass on its Float 1 and Float 2 lines. Float 1 is now under reconstruction worth Czk 2 billion, which should be completed by September 1996. Then the line will have a capacity of 650 tonnes of glass per day compared to the current 340 tonnes per day. Float 2 was reconstructed in 1994 and now has a capacity of 700 tonnes per day. AP is to also erect an air separation plant to supply Czech glass producer Glavunion. It is due onstream in 1997.
