The 14th Edition of Interpack, organised by NOWEA, took place in Dsseldorf, Germany, from 9 – 15 May. The triennial show, which is dedicated to the international confectionary packaging machinery and materials industry, covered an area of 138,000 sq. m. and was, once again, well attended. The total number of exhibitors stood at 2,343, of which 1,209 (57%) were from 44 different countries, while 188,000 visitors came from 113 countries. The first two days of Interpack “96 saw participants invited to take part in the specialist ancilliary programme. On 9 May, an “International Symposium on Packaging and the Environment”, considered the relevant issues concerning the criticism that packaging continues to face regarding its compatibility with the environment. On the following day, the “International Mechanical Engineering Forum” discussed ways of making the most of the opportunities in the growth markets of Asia. The next Interpack Exhibition will be held in Dsseldorf from 6-12 May 1999.
