US-based, flat glass manufacturer Libbey-Owens-Ford Co., which has recently changed its name to Pilkington Libbey-Owens-Ford (see Glass-Technology International No. 4-96), has licensed Supply Chain Planning (SCP) from American Software to substantially improve the accuracy of its forecasting. “The acquisition of American Software“s SCP product is the first in a series of immediate system improvements at Pilkington LOF which are aimed at improving customer service, inventory control and the overall efficiency of how we load our plants. The more accurate forecasting that we have already demonstrated with SCP will allow us to feed our plant scheduling systems with more reliable information, which itself justifies the investment,” said Bill McCreary, vice president and CEO at the Toledo, Ohio-based firm.
