Czech glass manufacturer Moser, has announced that the company recorded a loss for the first quarter of this year due to low sales and low exports in the winter months. However, Moser stated that it has planned an increase in pre-tax profit from last year“s Czk 5 million to Czk 10 million, and expected its turnover to grow 10% from last year“s Czk 170 million. The company currently exports 60% of its products to all advanced European countries, the US and the Far East. Moser operates its five outlets in the Czech Republic where it sells 95% of its production. Moser turns out about 100,000 pieces of cut glass products, and its product mix comprises 10,000 different types like glasses, vases, bowls, and others. The glassworks melts 700,000 tonnes of glass annually. The glassworks has secured an order for the production of a 50 cm-tall vase for Thai King Rama IX who will celebrate his 50th year on the throne. The cutting and engraving of the vase, worth several million Czech crowns, will take a whole year. Furthermore, Moser“s privatisation has not been completed yet. The National Property Fund (FNM) still holds 52% of the shares. Moser employs about 400 people.
