Based on an announcement in April by Tego Italiana Srl., the Italian subsidiary of the German chemical group, Goldschmidt AG. of Essen, Tego has purchased a plant located in Pandino near Cremona, Italy, formally the property of Onyx International. According to a company statement, with this latest acquisition, Goldschmidt has achieved two of its most strategic objectives. These are, to further decentralise production to give more independence to other areas of Europe, and to reinforce its presence in southern European markets where Goldschmidt has traditionally worked. The company is now able to offer technical assistance tailored to the customer, and is close at hand to respond to all of its clients“ needs. The Pandino plant is currently used for the production of raw materials for the cosmetic and detergent industries. However, estimates are that within approximately 12 months of the acquisition date, structural additions will be made that will enable this production unit to significantly broaden Goldschmidt“s product range. Tego“s offices will move to Pandino and will be operative as of August 1996.
