Mexico“s leading glass maker, Vitro SA, via its Vidrio Plan flat glass division, has bought a 51% stake in the Colombian automotive and architectural glass processor Vitemco. Vitro said the acquisition was its first in Colombia, and adds to its joint ventures in Peru, Central America and Bolivia. Vitemco is based in Bogota and processes tempered and laminated glass for the replacement, architectural and speciality markets in Colombia. Vitro produces glass containers, flat glass, windshields, glassware as well plastic and aluminium containers and household items. Vitro gave no indication of the price of the deal.
