In order to double its factory“s current production capacity, Estonian glassworks Jarvakandi Klaas has opened a new EKr 100 million workshop. To date, the factory has been producing 70-95 tons of glassware a day. According to the company“s director Kalle Uibopin, the new facility has one glass tank and two production lines, which were financed with loans from the Estonian Investment Bank and internal financing. The factory has increased its workforce from 160 to 250 people in connection with launching the new facility. Jarvakandi Klaas sells its products in Estonia, Latvia, Finland, Russia, Sweden, and Norway. The factory“s net turnover last year was Ekr 142 million and it made a profit of EKr 17.3 million. The US glassmaker Owens-Illinois owns 82% of the shares in the company, while Estonia“s leading alcohol producer Liviko has a 17.8% stake and the remaining shares belong to fisheries.
