Argentine brewery Quilmes has requested investment incentives from the Paraguayan government, and in particular soft energy tariffs, in order to expand glass bottle production capacity from its subsidiary Fabrica Paraguaya de Vidrios so that it can supply beverage plants in neighboring countries. Planned investments in Fabrica Paraguaya de Vidrios are USD 12 million to process 100 metric tons of glass bottles per day. Paraguay represents 8% of Quilmes“ overall business estimated at USD 622.7 million in 2004 with profits of USD 59 million. Gross profits were USD 220.5 million in 2004, from USD 187.5 million in 2003.
