For 85 years, Lasiluoto has been a trusted name in Finnish glass, now run by third-generation siblings Kari Lilja and Marjut Jokinen. When the family business decided to bring large-format tempering in-house for the first time, they turned to Glaston FC Series E with Autopilot, becoming the first company in Finland to install this line type.
The result? Straighter glass, intact coatings and new project opportunities Lasiluoto couldn’t bid for before.
But what really made the investment possible wasn’t the hardware – it was the intelligence behind it.
Kari Lilja, Managing Director of Lasiluoto, said “Without Autopilot, we probably wouldn’t have invested at all. Since this was our very first tempering furnace, we had no in-house expertise in tempering glass. For us, it was crucial to have the support of Autopilot so that we could take the furnace immediately into production without spending six months learning by trial and error.”
With Autopilot minimising operator involvement and optimising production from day one, Lasiluoto skipped the steep learning curve most first-time tempering operations face and went straight into high-quality, jumbo-sized production.
