At the Gerresheimer plant in Momignies, Belgium, Type III glass primary packaging for cosmetic applications is manufactured. The product portfolio includes standard and customized flacons, jars and bottles in a wide variety of shapes and sizes.
As part of a comprehensive modernisation project, the existing weighing and dosing system as well as parts of the silo discharge systems were rebuilt and upgraded. The scope of work included complete electrical installation by ZIPPE, along with cabling, and electrical and mechanical supervision.
Key elements of the project included the integration of two new mixers with a capacity of 1,875 litres each, the refurbishment and modification of the batch transport system and the installation of new Cold Top batch chargers, scraper conveyors and downpipes.
Particular attention and a key challenge lay in modernising the control technology while production operations were ongoing.
The transition from the old to the new control system was carried out step by step in close coordination with GERRESHEIMER, ensuring minimal disruption to production and a smooth commissioning process.
The final acceptance of the project was successfully completed recently.
