From May 4 to 7, 2026, GIMAV will be in Casablanca, Morocco, with an entrepreneurial mission dedicated to Italian technologies for glass processing and finishing. The initiative is organised in collaboration with ITA – ICE Casablanca, with the aim of fostering new opportunities for meetings, networking and business development between Italian companies in the sector and the Moroccan market.
The mission responds to a particularly interesting growth trend: sector exports to Morocco recorded a +95 percent increase in 2024, demonstrating the country’s resilience and central role even against the backdrop of complex international scenarios. This dynamism is driven by rapidly expanding industrial pillars:
- Automotive: the sector attracting the greatest investments thanks to the development of leading production hubs.
- Building & Construction: accelerating strongly, also in view of the major projects linked to the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
- Packaging and Bottling: a rapidly evolving container glass supply chain.
In a market with no local machinery manufacturers, Italian technologies stand out as a natural partner for innovation, challenging competition from Asia and Mediterranean countries thanks to a quality level oriented towards excellence. Morocco’s strategic role is further strengthened by its political stability, the establishment of free zones, such as the Tangier logistics hub, and its strong openness to trade, as demonstrated by major international free trade agreements, including the Free Trade Agreement with the United States, which further facilitate nearshoring processes and the attraction of foreign investment.
Participants and programme
The initiative will be attended by a group of companies representing Italian excellence in glass technologies: Schiatti Angelo Officina Meccanica, R.C.N. Solutions, Skill Glass, Antonini, ADI, Mappi International, Triulzi Cesare Special Equipments, Bovone, Cugher Glass, Tecnovati COM, Denver, Neptun, Pilkington Italia and GE.MA.TA..
The programme includes:
- an institutional plenary session introduced by Ambassador Salzano;
- B2B meetings with Moroccan companies;
- company visits in the area, with the aim of providing participants with direct knowledge of the local market and its potential.
In particular, on Tuesday 5 May, the opening session will take place at the Hotel Barceló Anfa in Casablanca, with the participation of Italian and Moroccan institutional representatives, including ITA – ICE Casablanca, the Embassy of Italy in Morocco, GIMAV, the Chamber of Commerce of the Casablanca-Settat Region, the Regional Investment Centre, SACE and SIMEST.
This will be followed by targeted B2B meetings between the Italian companies and 35 Moroccan operators, organised on the basis of the profile, activities and specific interests of each participating company. This personalised approach will create concrete opportunities for discussion, aligned with the needs of the companies involved.
The day of Wednesday 6 May will instead be dedicated to company visits and local market insights, with stops at Moroccan industrial and production facilities, including the MEDZ Kenitra free zone for companies in the automotive sector, ORIMEX, SOTRAGLACE and JET GLASS INDUSTRY.
Focus on internationalisation processes: GIMAV supporting companies
“This mission represents an important step in the internationalisation process that GIMAV carries out in support of its member companies. Morocco is a dynamic and rapidly evolving market, offering significant opportunities for Italian technologies dedicated to glass processing. Through targeted meetings and company visits, we aim to provide companies with concrete tools to gain first-hand knowledge of the local context, develop new relationships and enhance the excellence of our supply chain in international markets,” said Lucia Masutti, General Director of GIMAV.
With this mission, GIMAV confirms its commitment to supporting the internationalisation of its member companies and promoting the value of Italian glass technology in high-potential markets.
Morocco is indeed an increasingly interesting partner for the sector, thanks to its strategic position, the development of its industrial fabric and the opportunities linked to the modernisation of its main production sectors.
The initiative is part of a broader path aimed at enhancing the Italian glass supply chain in international markets, strengthening GIMAV’s role as a point of reference for companies in the sector and as a facilitator of industrial, institutional and commercial relations.
