Scotland’s Deputy First Minister Kate Forbes saw sustainable glass-making up close as she toured O-I’s facility in Alloa.
During the visit, the Deputy First Minister saw the newly rebuilt furnace as well as the second all-new furnace featuring state-of-the-art, energy-efficient tech.
The Alloa plant is a cornerstone in Scotland. It first opened 275 years ago, and remains integral to the local economy, employing around 500 people and producing more than 460 million glass bottles each year.
The recent investment at Alloa is a key step in O-I’s long-term commitment to reducing emissions and supporting Scotland’s transition to net zero through innovation in green manufacturing.
