Ardagh Group: investing in the circular economy

As part of its 2021 Sustainability Report, Ardagh Group shares news and updates on the work done to make progress towards a more sustainable future

Ardagh Group, together with joint venture partners Zignago Vetro and Verallia, has continually invested to increase the processing capacity at its glass recycling facility, Vetreco S.r.l. in Supino, Southern Italy. In addition to increased capacity, Ardagh has improved the quality of the cullet supplied. The Vetreco facility can process 370Kt of recycled glass cullet per annum. This means that the facility is one of the largest glass recycling facilities in the world.

When it first opened in 2013, the collection rate of waste glass in Southern Italy was 16kg per capita compared to 40kg per capita in the North. As a result of the increased glass recycling capability, the rate is now 32Kg per capita. To learn more about such investments and about our sustainability strategy at Ardagh, read the company’s 2021 Sustainability Report.
