Pyroguard expands fire-rated façade portfolio with new spandrel panels

Pyroguard, the world’s leading independent provider of fire safety glass solutions, has launched a new range of spandrel panels, expanding its portfolio of high-performance façade glazing products and giving the UK projects market access to a more comprehensive fire-rated façade offering from a single supplier.

Designed to meet the changing needs of architects, façade consultants, contractors and specialist engineers, the new range provides an A2 reaction-to-fire, non-flammable solution for applications where fully fire-resistant spandrel panels are not required. The launch gives façade designers greater flexibility, enabling them to coordinate aesthetic requirements with the necessary performance criteria.

Manufactured in the UK, the spandrel panels are available as single gel-filled laminates or as DGU (double glazed units) in a ‘shadow box’ style for enhanced aesthetics. They are available in three standard colours: white, anthracite grey and black, with other RAL colours available on request. The panels can also incorporate Low-E glass technology to support improved thermal performance requirements.

Pyroguard’s new spandrel solution enables contractors to retain an existing framing system used in non-fire rated areas, while achieving the required A2 reaction-to-fire performance at the spandrel. This can provide a more cost-effective solution and facilitate better integration. The spandrel panels are manufactured to align with UK fire safety requirements, including the guidance set out in Approved Document B.

The new panels complement Pyroguard’s extensive range of fire-rated DGUs, which can incorporate opaque spandrel glass products within the glazed construction and provide fire classifications ranging from EW30 to EI120. These existing systems can use either solar-control or Low-E counterpanes.

Andy Lake, Sales Director UK & Ireland at Pyroguard, said, “The introduction of our new spandrel panel range represents an important step in expanding Pyroguard’s fire-rated façade offering and responding to the evolving needs of the UK projects market. Increasingly, specifiers and façade specialists are looking for complete, compliant solutions from trusted suppliers. By adding spandrel panels to our range, we can now provide customers with a more comprehensive fire-rated façade package from a single source.”
