Polish, state-owned glass plant Wielkopolskie Huty Szkla, has announced that it has made plans to sell a majority stake to a foreign strategic investor. Swedish-based PLM, Owens-Illinois of the US and a number of undisclosed German companies have already expressed interest. The Polish plant had sales of Zl 39.3 million (US$ 16.3 million) in 1994 and 1995“s figure is forecast at Zl 60 million. Meanwhile, Arnhold & S. Bleichroeder (US), a brokerage company, has bought a 11.31% stake in the Krosno glassmaker, from the Ministry of Privatisation, for US$ 6.3 million. The American firm now has a 16% stake in the plant.
