Mexican company Vitro is to invest US$ 77 million to modernize and expand production of float glass at its plant in Mexico City, in order to meet increased demand for flat glass. The project will double capacity to 6,100 tons per week. The six-month expansion project is set to begin this October. Vitro also initiated operations at two new plants in Monterrey to produce stainless steel and silver plated flatware. Crisa Corp. will market the new lines under the brand Cufin and will sell to both wholesale and retail outlets.
