Vitro Architectural Glass plant located in Salem, Oregon, USA, will cease operation June 28, 2024, due to lower demand for its products. The plant is a glass coating facility that celebrated its 20th year of operation in 2017 and was producing more than 50 million square feet of glass each year.
According to Bill Haley, vice president of U.S. operations at Vitro, the decision was made by Vitro’s operations leadership team based on current and projected market conditions resulting in lower demand for flat glass products.
The plant has 37 employees, some of whom are being considered for open positions at other Vitro facilities. The company is also working with other local companies and the state Employment Department to help others find jobs.
