Visteon Sistemas Automotivas will be one of the allies of DaimlerChrysler in the development of its next family of Mercedes-Benz trucks. The autoparts supplier, specialized in electronics and cockpits for vehicles will participate in a gradual change in the production system of its factory at Sao Bernardo do Campo, Sao Paulo, Brazil, moving toward more competitiveness with less verticalization of the assembly process. The Brazilian unit of Mercedes-Benz, the largest truck manufacturer in the world, will be one of the principal proving grounds for the recent accord sealed between the DaimlerChrysler group and Visteon Corporation, the world“s biggest manufacturer of vehicle dashboards. Independent from Ford Motor Company since June 2000, in August this year Visteon announced plans to supply the German-American automaker components for current and future models.
