Banco Central Hispano has increased its stake in Spanish glass manufacturer Vidriera Leonesa (Vilesa) by 6% to 36% by subscribing to a capital increase. The banking group has taken up 175,394 Vilesa shares with a nominal value of Ptas 89 million, equivalent to Ptas 510 a share. The Ptas 819 million capital increase was completed on 31 December 1995 with a four-for-three rights issue. Last spring Vilesa wrote down its capital by Ptas 602 million . In 1995 the glass company returned to profitability after 1994 losses of Ptas 660 million and 1993 losses of Ptas 1,800 million.
