Construction company Uralita, of Spain, has announced plans to set up a new glass production facility in the east of Germany for approximately DM 100 million. The investor will be Uralita subsidiary Poliglas SA. It is reported that locations in Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt were under consideration, with Eilbenburg in Saxony thought to be the favourite. Finnish paper firm Enzo has already invested DM 800 million in a factory in Eilenburg (population: 20,000). Uralita employs 6,000 people and has turnover of DM 1.7 billion.
