A new research directory and a European sourcebook have recently been published by Britain“s UK Industrial Vision Association (UKIVA). The 1997 Vision Research Directory (UK 45, VAT zero-rated) lists research organisations and institutions with activities in machine vision for industrial applications and includes for the first time information about European as well as British sites. UKIVA says the directory lists contacts, staff, details of machine vision courses, areas of interest and potential applications. According to the publishers, the directory will be of interest to organisations hoping to exploit existing research under licence, cooperate in international or national research projects, commission specific research, recruit specialist engineers and train existing personnel. The second new publication, the European Vision Sourcebook (UK 250, VAT zero-rated), has a chapter for each Western European nation with country-by-country market overviews, details of vision system manufacturers, distributors, national trade and other related organisations, trade fair organisations, trade magazines and other useful information. UKIVA says the sourcebook is aimed at manufacturers seeking suppliers of vision systems, system builders seeking components, suppliers seeking representation, those seeking trading partners, those wishing to identify prospective users of vision components or software, and also research organisations seeking industrial partners. UKIVA has said that both books will be available for shipment in March.
