systron & vandaglas Eckelt: Strong alliance for jumbo glass excellence

At the beginning of 2024, vandaglas Eckelt, in Steyr, Austria – one of the world’s leading specialists in architectural glass – commissioned a new systron glass processing centre – the 9333proHD +WM glass processing centre – complete with integrated washing and drying unit plus inspection zone.

The state-of-the-art system enables high-precision processing of jumbo glass sheets up to 9 x 3.3 metres, including drilling, notching, cut-outs, mitre polishing and step grinding – all in a fully automated, vertical process. Whether used for complex façades, balustrades, roof elements or custom formats, the proHD delivers performance and precision on every shift.

Florian Temper, COO at vandaglas Eckelt, explained what made systron the right partner, “The proximity to the supplier, the smart design of the system, and the high degree of flexibility were decisive for us. The collaboration with systron was professional and smooth from day one.”

The new system also includes systron’s water cushion technology, allowing for contact-free processing of sensitive coated glass. This ensures outstanding edge quality and preserves delicate surfaces – a key advantage for projects with demanding visual and structural requirements.

An endearing detail: the machine was named “BEAte” by the vandaglas Eckelt team in an internal naming contest – reflecting the company’s culture of employee involvement and shared ownership, even when it comes to major investments.

Today, BEAte runs in 2 to 3-shift operations, processing oversized formats with consistency and speed. Integrated into vandaglas Eckelt’s digital production environment, the proHD supports the company’s high export quota of 80 percent – delivering glass for iconic buildings from Vienna to New York.
