The Belgian chemicals group Solvay has said it does not expect to be able to meet a deadline of the end of February for the conclusion of the deal to take control of the Bulgarian state-owned soda ash operation Sodi. “It is very doubtful that we will be able to meet the deadline because the agreement has turned out to be more complex than expected,” said a Solvay spokesman. The company expects to be able to finalise the deal within a few months, however. Solvay is hoping by then to have brought other partners into Sodi, including the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
