Sangalli, of Italy, is considering whether to build a plate glass factory in the planned St. Veit industrial park in the province of Kaernten (Carinthia), Austria. Investments would amount to Sch 2.2 billion and between 300 and 400 new jobs would be created. Provincial governor Christof Zernatto and Karl-Heinz Grasser, the regional government official responsible for economic policy, have already told Sangalli chairman Giorgio Sangalli they would approve any support. Previously, the company had announced plans to build a float glass plant for the production of glass for the construction and car industries in Arnoldstein (Carinthia). Investment of Sch 1.4 billion was proposed with the creation of up to 500 new jobs. However, the plans were dropped as they were vetoed by Sangalli“s US partner.
