South Korea“s Samsung Electronics Co. said 20 May 2004 that it signed a licensing agreement related to LCD production technology in settlement of a patent infringement suit with Guardian Industries Corp. of the USA. Financial terms of the settlement were not disclosed. In October 2003, Samsung said Guardian filed a lawsuit against the Korean company in a US federal court in Delaware. At the time, Samsung said Guardian“s claims were invalid and it planned to “defend” itself. In a filing to the Financial Supervisory Service, Samsung, which makes memory chips, mobile phones and liquid crystal displays, said Guardian withdrew its lawsuit against the company following the licensing agreement. Further details were not disclosed in Samsung“s filing.
