30 October 1997: Safelite Glass Corp., the US manufacturer, distributor and installer of automotive replacement glass, announced earlier this month that it had sold the stock of Lear Siegler Holdings Corp. to BPLSI Investment Company of New Jersey, US, a corporation wholly owned by James F. Matthews, the president and sole director of Lear Siegler Holdings Corp. Terms of the sale were not disclosed. “The sale of Lear Siegler is a logical step for Safelite Glass Corp.,” said John Barlow, President and CEO of the company. “Lear“s past operations have never been an integral part of Safelite“s auto glass repair and replacement business. This is consistent with the December 1996 recapitalisation of Safelite, and is designed to enable us to focus on our company and our core business.”
