Shares in Sweden“s PLM group rose sharply in price recently, following rumours that the group is discussing a takeover of the glass packaging business of Denmark“s Royal Copenhagen group. Royal Copenhagen, which is controlled by Carlsberg, makes both glass and plastics packaging; its glass division has turnover of about SKr 500 million. PLM“s chief financial officer Jan Bjork denied the rumours, while Royal Copenhagen“s managing director Leonhard Schroeder refused to comment.
