2 October 1997: The UK firm PLM Redfearn, part of Swedish group PLM, recently celebrated the completed installation of a new UK20 million furnace at its Monk Bretton plant in Barnsley, northern England, in conjunction with the company“s 50th anniversary of continuous production. The new furnace is part of a three-year improvement programme costing UK42 million. PLM Redfearn“s workforce of 1,000 produces more than 3 million bottles and jars a day. Fitting the combined furnace and bottle-forming machine at the Monk Bretton site took almost nine months.
