New Forel innovation: Triple thin- IGU with flexible spacer

The use of thin or ultra-thin glass in the manufacturing process of triple insulating glass unit (IGU) is a trend that continues to attract growing interest in the market.

Forel’s new video takes a closer look into the production technique using flexible spacer with the integration of a thin glass centre pane.

In focus, is highlighted a faster automated production process, thanks to the spacer applicator being equipped with an automatic reel changeover system combined with a final corner closing device to ensure maximum efficiency and precision placement of the spacer.

Supported by additional software, this enhanced manufacturing process allows production of “triple thin” IGU alongside other optional features, such as automatic muntin/Georgian bar slit incision for easy grid mounting and the capability to process various shapes for greater production flexibility.

The specially configured Coupling Press assembles the triple unit with just one cavity which allows the sealing robot to complete the triple thin unit in a single pass.

This innovative solution provides superior thermal and acoustic performance while maintaining nearly the same weight and overall width dimensions as a standard double-glazed unit. This triple thin product is ideal for residential new build or replacement glazing projects, as it can often be installed without requiring major modifications to the existing window profile or hardware.
