26 March 1998: Finland“s Kyro group posted profits before extraordinary items of FM 120 million in 1997, compared with profits of FM 101 million in the previous year. Kyro“s turnover amounted to FM 913 million, 60% of which came from the Finnish safety glass machinery manufacturer Tamglass. Tamglass“ turnover rose by a fifth to FM 543 million, while its operating profits increased by a third to FM 85 million. The company“s turnover was boosted by orders for new machines, in particular, orders for maintenance services. Increased demand in Europe and North America reportedly made up for a fall in orders from Asia. Kyro“s managing director Pentti Yliheljo said Kyro“s market share had increased last year and Tamglass had consolidated its position as the world“s leading manufacturer of safety glass machinery.
