India“s Horticulture Department“s assistant director, Mr. Bettasomaiah, said construction of a glass house on the lines of Lal Bagh at Bangalore would attract the general public in greater numbers to the Dasara Flower Show, which is conducted every year, as part of Dasara festivities. He also hinted that the Mysore City Corporation, Mysore Urban Development Authority and Horticulture Department has decided to conduct a meeting, along with the state Horticulture Department, in the near future, in this regard. Bettasomaiah said the glass house in Bangalore has added more beauty to the flowers and thereby attracts a large number of people all through the year. The department said it is therefore interested in setting up a similar structure there – or perhaps something smaller than the glass house in Bangalore – to attract people regularly and to make the exhibition permanent, he said.
