Heye-Glas, of Germany, held its “Heye International Presentation 1995” from 28-30 September 1995 at the Heye-Glas headquarters in Obernkirchen and at its glass factory in Germersheim. The company explained that the aim of 1995“s conference was to present Heye International“s business partners with an overview of the company“s latest technological and machinery developments. The participants were also given a preview of the technical projects that Heye engineers are currently working on. Heye pointed out that managing partner Hans-Dieter Hillen“s welcome speech presented a positive picture of the worldwide situation for the container glass industry. Mr. Hillen did not ignore, however, the special challenge represented by substitute packaging, especially cans and PET. He emphasised that these challenges can only be successfully met by keeping glass attractive as a packaging material, by constantly improving production technology and by reducing the material-specific disadvantages of glass packaging, such as weight or fragility, by means of new, innovative technologies. As Mr. Hillen said, “the possibilities offered by glass are by no means at an end. We will go on making every effort to ensure continued future success for glass as a packaging material by developing appropriate technologies.” The programme of lectures centred around the presentation of a broad range of new products. The main ones were: – the Heye Melter concept and the Heye Oxyfuel project; – the new Heye Glass Powder Plant; – the Heye machine concept; – the Heye hot-end concept with the new Heye Ware Transfer system; – the Heye cold-end concept with the new Heye Slidematic palletizer. The company affirmed that the international guests all agreed that the event greatly contributes to intensifying business relations which are a valuable help in continuing the dialogue to find new technical solutions that have a positive effect on the competitiveness of glass as a packaging material.
