HEGLA: Vitrum – Thin Glass, LSG, ERP – and a touch of dolce vita

Milan alone is worth the trip, but Vitrum offers much more. Among the highlights: the HEGLA Group presents innovations in thin glass processing, a new laminated safety glass (LSG) cutting system, advanced laser applications and the modern ERP platform glass365.

Thin glass in triple glazing
Thin glass – as thin as 0.5 millimetre – is gaining traction as the core of triple glazing. While conventional triple glazing supports energy efficiency, using thin glass in the centre allows a lightweight, slimmer construction. It enables the replacement of existing double glazing and reduces structural loads in new buildings – all with comparable U-values.

High edge strength through precision
Traditionally used in technical applications, borosilicate thin glass offers high heat and break resistance but requires precise handling. “Automation and adapted processes ensure reliability,” said Bernhard Hötger, HEGLA Managing Director. A special cutting head delivers homogeneous edges with high edge strength. Afterward, the glass can be processed into insulating units with TPS spacers, for example.

New level in LSG cutting
HEGLA’s newly developed LSG cutting table, combining AdvaLam and ProLam features, debuts at Vitrum. It operates fully automatically, maximising throughput and minimising cycle times. A laser diode heater can boost productivity by 20 percent. The cycle is no longer controlled by the operator, but by the machine.

Added value through laser
Lasers unlock functions such as bird protection, RF transparency, and heatability. Patterns are applied without damaging the surface and remain durable, scratch-resistant, and colour-fast for over 20 years. Also new: a high-quality laser edge coating process and the compact, lightweight UC-Stamp marking system.

glass365 – Smarter ERP
With glass365, HEGLA-HANIC introduces a reimagined ERP system based on Microsoft Dynamics 365. It offers mobile access, automatic updates, AI features and Office 365 integration. Email orders can be read and processed by AI. A new MES/PPS solution is also in development.
