South Korea“s Hankuk Electric Glass Co. announced in December 1995 that it had reached agreement with a Vietnamese government body on a US$ 33 million joint venture to build a glass bulb plant in Vietnam. A Hankuk spokesman identified the Vietnamese partner as GAET, an affiliate of the nation“s defence ministry, but said he could not give more details. Hankuk will have 70% of the venture, the government body 30%. The plant, scheduled to start production late in 1996, is expected to make three million bulbs per year, to be sold to an Orion Electric Co. plant in Vietnam. Orion is a unit of the Daewoo Group.
