As part of the US corporation“s commitment to the automotive industry and its plans to expand operations in the automotive plastics and trim sector, Guardian Industries, based in Auburn Hills, Michigan, US, recently bought a 70% stake in another Michigan firm, Automotive Moulding Company (AMC). AMC is a leading manufacturer of both plastic and metal exterior body components. According to Guardian president and CEO, Mr. William Davidson, the acquisition will “add significantly to Guardian“s position as a major worldwide automotive supplier”. Guardian Automotive Products Group, which has automotive glass production facilities in Indiana and Ohio, US, and in Luxembourg and Spain, has thus strengthened its presence in the plastics and trim market through what the company defines as a “business partnership”. With the AMC acquisition and other future opportunities for growth in both plastics and glass, Mr. Jack Sights, the Automotive Products Group president, says the company expects annual revenue from Guardian“s global automotive operations to exceed US$ 1 billion within the next few years.
