Guardian Ind. has awarded a contract to Boc Gases to supply a nitrogen generator for Guardian“s new DeWitt, Iowa, US, float glass plant, expected to be on-line in 1996. Boc“s glass technologies group will supply a 70-ton-per-day nitrogen generator, manufactured by Boc process plants. This was the second nitrogen generator award in the Americas for Boc from the float glass industry in 1995, with both being installed at green field float glass plant sites. The nitrogen will be used in conjunction with hydrogen to provide a reducing atmosphere in the tin bath to prevent oxidation of the tin, Boc says.
