Glaston receives a ProL SPEED lamination line order from SAG

Glaston has received an order from Saudi American Glass Company (SAG), a glass processing pioneer in the Middle East, for a Glaston ProL SPEED lamination line. The order was booked in Glaston’s Q1 2025 order book. The delivery of the line to the company’s new facilities in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, is planned for the end of this year.

Established in 1978 as a joint venture between a local company and one in the US, SAG was the Middle East’s first glass manufacturer, and it continues to be one of the largest. Over the years, the company has become a well-known supplier of high-quality glass products, including energy-efficient glazing solutions for advanced architectural designs.

“There is a high demand for fully laminated glass and other complex glass products due to upgraded architecture specifications. In addition to the next FIFA World Cup to be held in Saudi Arabia, there is other regional growth driving demand for resorts, hotels, government buildings and more,” said Riass Dayekh, General Manager of SAG. “Recently, we’ve been providing more high-quality specialty products, like acoustic and extra strong safety glass, SentryGlas®  for façades and bullet-resistant glass.”

Recently launched on the market, ProL SPEED is one the world’s fastest lamination lines for mixed production. It raises glass processing efficiency with quick precision, a high degree of automation and advanced heating technology.

SAG’s existing laminating line was limited in size. The new machine features a larger size of 3.3 by 6 metres, increased speed and ease of use through automation, as the operators no longer need to input the recipes. Another benefit that SAG was looking for is the energy efficiency of the ProL SPEED line.

“We have a long and positive experience with Glaston and we have come to rely on their technology. One of our oldest machines, a Glaston laminating line, has been operating since 1997. Every step of the way, we have upgraded our processes and machinery. Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 is driving us to keep up with market demand, and when enlarging our facilities, we will invest in more automated lines to meet the demand for high-performance glass. We look forward to increasing speed to facilitate our work with the latest ProL SPEED line,” Dayekh continued.
