Glass Futures took centre stage at Glassman Italy 2026 with Bridget Stewart’s presentation during a packed conference session in Bologna, Italy.
Addressing an international audience, Bridget’s paper, “Low carbon fuels for the glass industry: pilot trials and future opportunities,” outlined how Glass Futures’ 30 tonnes per day pilot-scale R&D furnace is enabling industrial-scale trials of low-carbon technologies without risk to commercial operations.
The presentation outlined the direction of early pilot trials into alternative fuel scenarios, including hydrogen, biofuels and electric melting, and their potential to accelerate industry adoption.
Bridget’s presentation complemented earlier papers from the Glass Futures membership network, including Ametek Land, Glass Service, Glass Technology Services, SEFPRO and Stara Glass, covering developments in areas such as sustainable glass melting and light-weighting.
