GfE visits Edgetech, specialised in thermally efficient spacer technology

On 31 March, 2026, Glass for Europe (GfE) visited the offices of Edgetech in Heinsberg, Germany, as part of its ongoing efforts to deepen industry knowledge and collaboration. Edgetech, a specialist in thermally efficient spacer technology, welcomed representatives for an in-depth look at its operations and innovations.

The visit provided a valuable opportunity to better understand the window value chain, with a particular focus on the role of advanced spacer technology in improving energy performance. Through discussions and site insights, participants gained a clearer view of how component-level innovation contributes to overall window efficiency. Spacer systems can indeed further the reduction of heat loss at the edges of insulating glass units.

This exchange comes at a time when persistently high and volatile energy prices across Europe are placing increased pressure on households and businesses alike. In this context, the promotion and deployment of high-performance windows have become more important than ever. Discussions focused on the implementation of key legislations such as the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive and the Construction Products Regulation.

The exchange highlights Glass for Europe’s commitment to engaging with key industry players and strengthening expertise across the glass and glazing sector.
