Gemco Furnaces b.v. of Eindhoven, The Netherlands has acquired the Stein Atkinson Stordy Glass business unit. The acquisition was completed on Monday 4 February 2003. According to Gemco, the merger brings together two major players in the glass and display products industries. The new group will continue to service the needs of this market through its group company locations in The Netherlands, UK, USA and China. The sale involved the transfer of a number of active contracts, which will be completed seamlessly by the existing UK team. Future business will be serviced from Gemco“s two engineering centres in Eindhoven, The Netherlands and Wombourne, UK with the support of the firm“s international sales and marketing network. The new group has stated its intention of building on the innovation and technical know-how of the two companies in order to continue its commitment to developing new products, services and technologies for the glass and display industries.
